Operation Geek Out

Worlds Apart is generally been quite successful. Our Magic events are bringing all the boys to the yard, and except for a slight larceny issue, we would be profitable. However, as we achieve such success, I notice that we are becoming more and more focused on those core operations that bring home the bacon, and we have less of the crazy, goofy, geeky stuff that made Phoenix so much fun.
So, I present Operation Geek Out: a series of unusual events of the type that made Phoenix Games the wild and crazy place it was. Of course, more details will come soon, but here are some of the events that will be coming up:
Soldier Appreciation Postcard-a-thon
I got this idea from something I saw on Facebook. There are many soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center who are recovering from combat injuries and they can feel mighty alone, especially around the holidays, all cooped up in the hospital. So, the idea is that we get a whole bunch of post cards, and get together one afternoon and let them know that our community appreciates their sacrifices.
New Year's Eve All Night Gaming Party
This great tradition will continue, ringing in the new year with games and good company
Game-A-Thon and Knit-A-Thon For Those In Need
It's a 24-hour game-a-thon to support Warmer Winters, an organization that provides warm, quality garments to people in need during the winter. Participants would be encouraged to get sponsors for their 24-hour efforts, and there would also be knitting supplies on hand so that people could knit a scarf or hat or whatever while gaming, being doubly helpful.
I bet there are some other crazy things we can do. Let's hear some suggestions.

What about a WAG Yankee Swap? We can maybe have a holiday party with goodies (people bake, right?) and do a yankee swap! I think they are more fun than grabs or secret santas.

That could be fun. We could also include that in the New Years Eve party. That way we only have to get people to come out for one event.
