1. Officer Reports
General Manager - We've run some events. We had the anniversary which was mildly successful. We also had MaulCon. We have Magic Events coming up. Along the idea of tournaments. There was some suggestion of experimenting in the tournament format for the League Launch. There was a thought of doing double elimination, or doing Swiss and then single elimination. People seem to prefer to be dropped to dropping. We will move this to the discussions. Magic is going okay. FNM has been picking up a lot. Creidieki is now a TO and can run Magic events. There's been talk about draft on Sundays, there have been 2 6-men drafts. We also had people here about it and be interested.
Treasury - Bills are paid except sales tax. We got an email from Little Dogs who are having a sale printing T-shirts. We did the last set of t-shirts through them.
Quartermaster - Things are going well. Player's Handbook 3 comes out on the 16th. We're in a relatively stable state as far as ordering things go. We picked up Diamond Bridge, which is a locally made game and is very cool. We're moving the $2-4 range of singles, so we're going to have a long box of them.
Membership Coordinator - We're currently all covered, although it would be nice to have more people who can cover mornings. We should try to get more people to buy memberships, but it's semi-unpredictable. There is a bit of an issue with the Hedon transactions for Membership, but it will be fixed.
3. Discussion
- Designating one or two people as League Commissioner to set and post rules before the Launch of Magic: the League, and take point on answering any questions and setting precedents related to it.
People have been put off at the unclearness of the rules, and it's cost the store participation in the League. It would be nice to have a posted set of rules. Having someone be around to answer questions and set precedents. A printout is nice and a good start, but having someone there to physically explain the rules is nice. At the Launch tournament and vaguely available. Some people in the League Launch tournament didn't know they had the option of Worldwake or Zendikar. There should be someone around a lot to make decisions, and we should make sure that we have the rules posted preferably a week in advance. Michael would be happy to designate an AGM for Magic events, but we need someone we can agree on. Lucky may be interested in being League Commissioner. Creidieki is interested in being more involve in Magic stuff.
Someone should be designated to post events on the website before it happens. Lee is willing to do it.
- Magic League
We did a survey. Some of the results: Most of the people are playing in League, we're about half and half on playing in Thursday Draft. Three people feel that people should be able to dump and replace their League pool, three people think that they should not, five don't care. People would like us to start on time at events. Let move the discussion on the subcommittee. Letting dump is more fun, but makes it less of a serious competition. It could be gamed. Doesn't matter if you win all your matches, if you play less games. We will tweak the formula for points to make wins more better. There will be a limit of 1 re-buy.
- Vending at Pi-Con. (Should we?)
There will be more vendors and fewer game dealers. We can be the game room sponsor for free as long as we provide the games for the game room again. The reason to be there (given that we lost money last year) is for exposure, but if we can get the same exposure for free, we shouldn't pay for a vendors table. We were offered free vending, but it's been retracted, so we shouldn't do it.
- Vending at Arisia.
Should we authorize someone to be in charge of coordinating at Arisia? Michael can do it. Action retracted.
-Vending at Nexus Faire
Exposure to other people. We don't need to bring gaming books, so it's board games and reading books. We should bring demo games.
Vending at Nexus Faire passes unanimously.
